Tuesday and Wednesday
The fog (or haar as it's known locally) did eventually clear and we managed to get a shoot at 900 yards which went quite well.
The bad news is that Peter has picked up a stomach virus. We are hoping he is now on the mend and we've been taking what precautions we can to minimise the chances of us catching it.
Last night Rick and I took a stroll around Carnoustie town. It's a small place but is nice enough and the locals are all very friendly.
This morning there was a practice shoot at 1000 yards. I didn't seem to be able to hold a group for elevation and I have been trying to establish whether there is a rifle problem which could explain it. One possibility is that my rear bedding screw is bottoming out which would mean that the action is only being held in the bedding by the front screw. It's hard to say for certain whether that's the case but counting the number of turns the screw required to reach the bottom (with action out of the stock) and comparing that with the number of turns needed with the action in the stock suggests it may have been. We managed to find someone with an angle grinder and we cut a bit off the end of the screw! A bit drastic, but I wanted to eliminate it as an issue. Time will tell whether it improves group size.
We are just about to leave the hotel to head over to Glasgow for the opening ceremony at Celtic Park football stadium. Unfortunately Peter won't be able to join us but he can work on getting his strength back so he is back on form for our last practice day tomorrow.
To make up for some of the lost practice time yesterday, we are going to try to fit in four ranges tomorrow - 300 and 600 metres and 900 and 1000 yards.
I'll try to give an update tomorrow on what the opening ceremony was like.

I had assumed it was upside down for Hamish's benefit. Photo is now the right way up.
