Individual Day 1
This morning we started the individual. It's a Queen's I (for the non-shooters reading this, that's 7 shots at 300, 500 and 600 metres).
The weather changed today. The wind was from the south west which keeps the haar away from the range. However, it also brought the odd shower although we ended up missing the worst of them.
The wind, from over our right shoulder, was actually very tricky at times. There were some very fast changes in angle and strength. They weren't big changes but certainly enough to take you out of the bullseye.
I got off to a disappointing start, losing my first shot just over the top of the bull. In hindsight I should have come down half a minute after the sighters rather than the quarter I did move. I needed half a minute less elevation at every range. If only I'd had 3 sighters!
Happily things improved after that and I managed to go the rest of the day without dropping any more points finishing on 104 (with 10 "V" bulls).
The scores were not all that high. There was only one maximum score of 105. My 104.10 puts me in 6th place at this stage but there is a VERY LONG way to go.
Early finish today. Currently watching the F1 highlights and might venture out onto the putting green later!
Update on our manager's illness: he has still been unable to join us at the range but he is in good spirits and hopes to get there tomorrow. For now he's still keeping himself to himself to limit the chances of anyone else catching what he has.
